About Julie RogersBiography From the beginning of her professional career, Julie has been actively engaged in politics, particularly on the health care front. For nearly 10 years, she has fought hard for the rights of Michigan’s citizens by advocating for adequate Medicare coverage. In 2007, as the Michigan Physical Therapy Federal Affairs Liaison, she met with US Representative Fred Upton and achieved personal endorsement for a bill to maintain Medicare benefits.
Julie is currently serving as an appointed member of the Kalamazoo County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board. This board helps facilitate the rehabilitation of environmentally contaminated properties and fosters growth in the community. She is a leader for responsible environmental cleanup and advocates against the dumping of PCBs in Kalamazoo. She is also Chairperson, Brownfield PR/Media Subcommittee. During the 2006 campaign, Rogers was very narrowly defeated in her quest for State Representative. She received 49.44% of the vote in the 61st District. Personal Julie Rogers, a physical therapist working in both Kalamazoo hospitals, helps Kalamazoo-area residents with many different musculoskeletal problems. She finds it most rewarding to help people learn how to walk again after an operation and how to manage debilitating low back pain. Julie is committed to improving the lives of everyone she works with. A Kalamazoo Township resident, Julie was born and raised in Kalamazoo County. She was the first student to simultaneously graduate from the Kalamazoo Area Math & Science Center and Mattawan High School. Later, Julie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master’s degree of Physical Therapy at Marquette University. Julie is married to Ed Orloff, DPT, CSCS who recently accepted a position at Borgess Spine. One of Julie’s greatest passions is fitness. She and her husband train as triathletes on the Kal-Haven Trail, Portage Celery Flats, and the roads of Texas Township. Interestingly, Julie completed 2 triathlons during her 2006 campaign for State Representative. Julie is also dedicated to preserving our green spaces so that we can all continue to enjoy Kalamazoo County’s excellent outdoor recreational areas.
